Questo articolo integra i principali risultati della letteratura scientifica sul sensation seeking negli sport invernali, con particolare attenzione allo snowboard. Viene analizzato il ruolo del tratto di personalità sensation seeking nella modulazione del comportamento a rischio e nella relazione con l’uso del casco, al fine di comprendere se quest’ultimo induca un aumento del rischio oppure se siano fattori psicologici a guidare i comportamenti. Inoltre, si esplorano le caratteristiche degli sport estremi, i profili psicologici degli atleti e il ruolo dello psicologo sportivo nel supporto e nella prevenzione.
