Sport and Exercise Psychology (PSE) is the new official journal of the Italian Association of Sport and Exercise Psychology (AIPS).
In 2024, we decided to reshape the journal and transform it into an Open Source publication — though its past remains as rich as ever.

Our association has always contributed to the dissemination of scientific knowledge, first through the Italian Journal of Sport Psychology (GIPS) and later through the print version of PSE, published by Calzetti and Mariucci starting in 2020.

Times change, however, and the journal has decided to evolve as well — transitioning from its print edition (six issues were published) to an Open Access format.

The spirit, however, remains the same. We hope that PSE will serve as a renewed platform for the growth of sport and exercise psychology, fostering the exchange of experiences, the dissemination of studies and research, and the exploration of broad and relevant themes.

Open dissemination allows us to reach a wider audience and to provide Italian research in the field of sport and exercise psychology with a recognized scientific presence on the international stage.

This journal adopts an Open Access system, meaning that all contents are freely available at no cost to users or their institutions. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, as well as to use them for any other lawful purpose, without seeking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

The journal is published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License license. Authors who publish in the journal retain the copyright to their content.

This Book of Abstracts brings together the scientific contributions presented at the 25th National Congress of the Italian Association of Sport and Exercise Psychology (AIPS), held in Rome from May 22 to 24, 2026, at the Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma (UNINT).

The Congress represents a central moment for the scientific and professional community working in the field of sport and exercise psychology, serving as a space for exchange, updating, and the advancement of knowledge. From this perspective, the initiative aims to promote dialogue between research and applied practice, fostering the sharing of theoretical models, empirical evidence, and professional interventions.

The 2026 edition is part of AIPS’s well-established tradition, with particular attention to the role of sport psychology in contemporary contexts, characterized by increasing complexity and the continuous evolution of sporting practices and individual needs. The Congress seeks to highlight the interconnections between individuals, relationships, and contexts, with a focus on processes of development, well-being, and performance throughout the entire span of sport participation.

Within this framework, the Book of Abstracts serves as an essential tool for navigating the various congress activities—plenary sessions, symposia, oral presentations, posters, and workshops—offering a structured overview of the contributions presented.
